Create a weekly and monthly food menu using the food you have first. Create a perfect shopping list so that nothing is left off. This will keep you from making multiple trips to the grocery store to get that one item you forgot.
Shop at grocery sales, stores and use coupons and apps to get the best price. Do you know when is the best time of day to grocery shop?
Prep as much as possible ahead of time, so there is little to do to actually get dinner on the table. Save yourself and your evening leisure time with this strategy.

Many moms struggle night after night with getting dinner on the table at a reasonable time. We resort to convenience foods and fast food instead of feeding our family what they really need... a nutritious homemade meal.
I understand the struggle of standing in the pantry or refrigerator door and wondering how I can put together a meal. Traveling from pantry to freezer to refrigerator in search for that one quick thing to put on the table in 30 minutes is not efficient.
Not knowing what's for dinner costs you money, time, your health, quality family time and peace.
Money
Lack of planning costs money due to spending more on convenience foods, going out or calling out for dinner, extra trips to the supermarket and on and on. Food can be made much more cheaply at home. Without correcting this, your finances suffer and that vacation you've been dreaming of is put off for another year.
Time
How long do you stand peering into the refrigerator and/or pantry combing the cabinets for something to throw together? 30 minutes? An hour? In that amount of time you could have already made a wonderful dinner.
Your family needs you and your attention and they are struggling with their own issues. While you search for dinner to put on the table, the amount of time your family gets from you dwindles. It may even keep you from getting into bed at night just trying to get everything done. It's so very frustrating!
Health
Weight gain, obesity, acid reflux, tired all of the time, loss of sleep...
These issues are real and prevalent in our time. Eating chemicals instead of real food causes weight gain. The body is made for eating nutritious food. When you eat chemicals your body doesn't know what to do with them or how to process them, so they are stored as toxic fat. Processed foods are created with chemicals that do not satisfy, causing you to eat more and more to get full, thereby causing your weight to rise month after month, not to mention your poor little children. We have become overfed and malnourished. We are sick with diseases that are caused by an unhealthy diet, heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes.
The later in the evening you eat, the harder it is for your digestion. Most people are sedentary in the evenings. This causes your food not to be used as fuel but to store as fat. If you go to bed before your food is digested, then it just sits there. When you go to sleep, all your body processes slow way down causing your food not to digest. This can also cause acid reflux.
I used to do all these things until I discovered what I needed to change. I am a reader and I read for information, to gain knowledge to overcome a problem. Through finding knowledge and practice, I discovered new ways of doing things. Not only was I able to get dinner on the table every night, but I saved money.

Planning is easy for me if I know the steps to take. Follow through can be another matter entirely. With meal planning, following through is easy though. Once the plan is in place, it's easier to look at the menu and get started rather than to stand in the pantry looking around.
After I learned meal planning, I kept progressing in my skills. It has been a long 15 years of trial and error. I did get it right though. Let me save you 15 years and teach you the skills I have learned.

Everything is thawed, the vegetables are chopped, the salad is made, the ingredients are all together as well as your recipe. All you have to do when you come home is assemble and cook. Can you imagine having dinner on the table 30 minutes after you get home or as soon as your husband walks in the door?
No, these are not the days of Ozzie and Harriet. This is not the 50's where women stay at home, keep the house and live to get dinner on the table each night. Life would be much simpler if it was. We live busy lives in the 21st century. Even if we do stay at home, we probably have a home business of some sort and are homeschooling kids and such. Not to mention all of the activities outside of the home.
Dinner at 6 is not an unimaginable idea. You can have dinner at a reasonable time and still have time for kids and your husband who need you desperately. If they can't get what they need from you, who is going to give it to them?
Connection is so important in this world of Facebook, video games and the internet. People are lonely and searching in all the wrong places.
Start with dinner, eat at the table and enjoy each other. Play a fun game afterward. If you follow my plan you will have extra time and extra money to spend with those you love.
Dinner is something you will have to do for the rest of your life. It makes sense to get it together now. Don't wait another day. Your family, money, time and your health are going down the drain of indecision. Take charge and make a change for good. Do it for yourself and your love ones.
